Hon Fusi Naamukong: Stop Blaming Insecurity for Low Realisation of PIB Projects In Mezam.

   By Martial Gnoukapasi.

      It was on the basis of the above argument that  Honourable Fusi Naamukong, chairman of the Mezam divisional follow up committee for PIB projects cum member of parliament for the Bafut- Tubah constituency, made a firm call to vote holders and other stakeholders involved in the execution process of public investment projects in the division, to stop hiding behind the same excuses for 3yrs and negotiate their way through the realisation of their bidded projects so as they can benefit members of their respective communities.

       Statistics at the 1st quarterly follow up for the physico- financial execution of PIB projects in 2019 revealed that of the 115 projects allocated for the division this year, just 5 as of the month of April have been completed. 1 ongoing and a 109 under award procedure, leaving physical realisation at 1.08% while nothing has been engaged financially.
There exists Earth road projects as far back as 2017 that Haven't been executed.
These prompted a number of resolutions which were arrived at amongst which was;
A)For all uncompleted council road projects for 2017 and 2018 to be completed by May and June ending of 2019 respectively.
B) All 2019 council road projects must be awarded by the end of July this year.
C) Projects below 5 million on the basis of mutual agreement (gree-a-gree) should all be engaged before April 30th and
D) For the Pay Master General (TPG) to make available funds so contractors can do their job on time.

The meeting ended with the representative of the Mezam SDO frowning at the conspicuous absence of certain key vote holders and delegates whose municipalities have continuously been found wanting for one thing on the other.
She called on committee to double their efforts so as to catch up with projects of previous years so the credits don't go back to yde as well as ensure projects for 2019 are realized at a 100%.

      It is true the Ongoing Anglophone crisis in Cameroon, now known to have violently escalated has created a tense atmosphere which makes it almost very difficult for government to carry out it's development programs nor enforce any concrete action in the two regions of the North West and South west in the country.

        The question is -Must vote holders and contractors charged with implementing these programs continue to use the crisis as justification for not executing projects in these regions when they can? The answer is NO.
