Bamenda DDR: More and More ex combatants involved in Livestock, poultry activities

More are more ex-fighters are getting occupied by the day as they cater for these livestock on daily basis. On Friday July 15th the centre received a consignment of 5000 day old chicks accompanied by 25 bags of feeds from the North West Livestock Development Fund (CDENO), Visad by the ministry of livestock. In addition to what was already at the centre, 45 piglets, 35 cane rabbits he confessed, has been received from the national coordinator. At the centre, we could spot the ex fighters catering for their animals. Call her a survivor of war, now at the Bamenda disarmament demobilization and reintegration centre. One often wonder, even some guests who've had the luxury of visiting the Bamenda disarmament demobilization and reintegration centre, unconciously will occasionally, think aloud - This one too was a fighter?. Thing is, sometimes you look at the faces and you asked yourself if truly this or that person has fired a gun before or not. By Martial Gnoukapasi Blessing(left) Moses(right) 33 years old Echu Moses Bessem, currently the senior prefect of the Bamenda Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration centre had 4 out of the 8 papers he sat in for, in the just released results of the 2022 session of the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level. 26-year-old Blessing on her part had 3 papers with 6points in the Arts A1 series-Advanced Level. The two registered under the Government Bilingual High School old town Bamenda. Speaking to MNews237 Tuesday August 23rd at the centre, both Moses and Blessing said their motivation to go back to school emanates from a dream of becoming someone society will respect. According to Blessing" I will always have ambition of becoming a great woman in future. So when I came to the centre there was alot of opportunities for me and going back to school was one of them. 2022/2023 Academic Year: HIBMAT University Institute Buea launches admission

HIBMAT University Institute of Buea -HUIB in Fako division of the South West region has emerged second best in the National Diploma , HND, nationwide. The ranking was released and signed by the Ministry of Higher Education and who doubles as Chancellor of Academic Orders, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo . The rating is based on the 2022 HND examinations. HUIB is having the recognition after 279 of her students wrote the HND this year with 273 succeeding in flying colours. The figures according to the Ministry of Higher Education shows a success rate of 97.85% . This put the school on spot number two nationally. NW/SW Armed Conflict: Creating more persons with disabilities and putting them at greater risk

Martial Gnoukapasi Participants and trainers in a group photograph Since the now termed "Anglophone Crisis" plaguing the two english speaking regions of Cameroon for six years and counting turned bloody in 2017, more and more persons with disabilities have emerged with a majority of them still finding it difficult to survive the political atmosphere. It's now very common to come across persons who've permanently lost their sights, limbs or legs and other body parts to  bullets in these regions. Disturbing short and lengthy video clips on several instances have made rounds on social media with footages showing  how people are being rendered disabled for being " blacklegs " or for going against laid down rules enforced by belligerents of the armed conflict.  Fingers  and toes have been chopped off. In some hospitals in and out of the embattled regions, it's also common to find people who as a result of the shock of loosing love ones or after cheating death

E-patriotism is best for achieving Peace and Reconciliation

The founder of ICT University, Prof Victor Mbarika has initiated a program he says will help crusade and enforce the peace and reconciliation process in Cameroon. The ICT expert and academician presented the E-patrotism concept for peace and reconciliation at the 4th session of the follow-up of Implementation of the Recommendations of the Major National Dialogue that took place at the Prime Minister's office recently. Passionate about seeing peace re-established in conflict torn North West and South West,Prof. Mbarika said  "..in the face of changes in technology, there's obvious need to give it a pivotal role in suing for peace". The Lebialem socio-economic conference at the mountain Hotel in Buea took place under the patronage of the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Paul Tasong.
