Covid-19: 2020 Closes With 973 Infections, 885 Recoveries And 75 Deaths In Conflict NW.

By Martial Gnoukapasi Dr. Jean Richard, WHO NW field co-ordinator Going by statistics MNews237 gathered from the World Health Organization's field co-ordinator for the North West Dr Balo Jean Richard, one can mathematically deduce that the region is ending 2020 with 88 cases of infections in the restive region. The medical expert also confirmed that of this number, there were 13 active cases as at December 19th, with the case fatality rate standing at 7.8%. The virus according to him, didn't spare the health personnels working day and night to contain the spread of the pandemic within the 19 health districts of the region. A total of 146 medical staff were infected, 135 recoveries made, 2 currently on treatment and 6 deaths on the list. The headline figures however represents the statistics of infections recorded in the region since the confirmation of the 1st ever case of the pandemic on March 6th 2020 in Cameroon by the country's health minister Manaouda Malachi. They made the call Thursday December 24th at the council premises during a participatory development budgetary debate, organized by the council to ascertain the needs of the community as they prepare to budget for the 2021 fiscal year. Chaired by mayor Mbigha Felix, Speakers at the need assessment-base gathering included the president of the quarter representatives Ndifor Clement, who said there was need for the council to prioritize the grading and tarring of some existing foot paths into major access roads, to ease mobility in and out of the community. Covid-19: NW Response Teams Schooled On Effective Use Of Data In Managing The Pandemic

Members of the rapid response team for the fight against covid-19 in the North West region of Cameroon have been schooled on how to interpret and better manage covid-19 related data in an effort to effectively respond to the pandemic in the region. This follows a 4-day first ever training for local actors involve in combatting the virus in treatment centers across the region, that concluded on Saturday December 19th at the north west special fund for health promotion in Bamenda.
