Covid-19: NW Response Teams Schooled On Effective Use Of Data In Managing The Pandemic

Members of the rapid response team for the fight against covid-19 in the North West region of Cameroon have been schooled on how to interpret and better manage covid-19 related data in an effort to effectively respond to the pandemic in the region.
This follows a 4-day first ever training for local actors involve in combatting the virus in treatment centers across the region, that concluded on Saturday December 19th at the north west special fund for health promotion in Bamenda.
Diana Atongapai from the central service of the ministry of public health, which organized the workshop with support from technical partners like the World Health Organization (WHO) at the closing ceremony said "When this pandemic started we hadn't enough funds to train the response team of the north west. Thanks to WHO we are here to capacitate them. They need to know how to handle cases of rumour, manage their teams and all covid-19 related information from the field. And for the past four days that's exactly what they've acknowledged to have mastered"
The training workshop for the rapid response teams and data managers for the 19 health districts in the region according to the 2nd incident commander at the NW delegation of public health Dr Ambe Lionel will permit the response teams to henceforth take swift actions to benefit the population in terms of controlling infections.
"..At the very beginning of the pandemic, protocols and guidelines were outlined and distributed to the regional hospital in Bamenda on the management of Covid-19 but the actors were not officially trained. So during this financing phase of operations the ministry succeeded in securing funds which are being used to capacitate the actors of the various treatment centres still base on same protocols. We expect after this training, a uniformity in response from all the health districts when it comes to Covid-19."
For Dr Adjabmoh Henry and Elome Ebako, District Medical Officer's of Batibo and Wum health districts respectively, the training has greatly empower to not only respond to Covid-19, but also to be able to investigate and diagnose other health epidemics in record time.
"It has help us to create a very solid team that will permit us investigate and analyze any existing epidemics in our respective districts. It will assist us analyze data qualitatively so that after the development threshold we can be able to say when we're in epidemic era or not. It's also a call for us to intensify our activities on the ground"
