At the inaugural ceremony of the ultramodern VIP latrines constructed to benefit visitors of the Bamenda regional hospital some months back, the director Dr kinge Thompson revealed that the facility shall rely on humanitarian donations to ensure proper use while maintaining hygiene and sanitation.
His plea obviously didn't land on deaf ears as host and panelist of one of Ndefcam Radio's most cherished program " Press & Associate" which airs every Saturday morning via the program embarked on a "basket collection" for the above mentioned purpose.
The content of the basket which amounted to FCFA 343,000 was handed to the hospital in a brief ceremony that brought together the Press and the hospital adminstration on Wednesday July 3rd.
Ndefcam radio manager maikem Emmanuela manzie speaking at the ceremony said a house is only comfortable when it's got not just a good but clean and comfortable toilet. Reason why ndefcam radio Immediately embraced the idea when it was proposed by the panelists of P&A. She saluted the materialization of the initiative.

The dynamism of the hopsital's director and the bond he's foster with the press, has given visibility of the structure and it's services to patients thanks to the easy access journalists enjoy in their quest for information, as expressed by Jato Richard of radio Hot Cocoa who's also panelist of a sister program to press and associates known as Frank talk.
To Mr Nfor Francis, panelist of crtv's Friday morning Press Forum, the gesture by press and associates should serve as an eye opener for society to understand that media men and women can go beyond just sitting behind their mics and be part of meaningful development.

His words were complimented by that of CAMASEJ NW chapter president Ambe Macmillan Awa, who began by acknowledging that the WiFi box handed to the press and associates team during on the occasion to celebrate World Press freedom on May 3rd to facilitate their research work was a square peg planted into a square hole. The MOU the association has with the hospital will empower and permit Journalists in the region to do more, he added.

In handing the envelope of fcfa 340,000 alongside some pairs of bathing sleepers, the host of the program Colbert Gwain flanked by it's name bearer Mr John mankefor and other panelists who were introduced, thank those in and out of the region who chipped in their widows mighty might. He  laud not just the efforts of the director in giving the hospital the facelift it deserves but the entire administration as well for their commitment and hard work during this crisis moment.

Dr kinge Thompson in receiving the envelope said it will go a long way to aid the many patients now flooding the hospital with insufficient means to take care of their health needs. He said I quote:

" _The hospital refused payment before usage of the toilet facility by patients and visitors because once you are pressed, there shouldn't be any other activity to compete with that_".

He revealed that since it's innauguration in April 11 2019, 2500 persons have made use of the all inclusive VIP ultramodern toilets and would've spent 125,000frs if they were paying.
The 343000frs mobilized by the press and associates team will thus cater for the needs of needs of 7000 users.
He pledged the availability of the hospital for more donations and described as win-win, the hospital - Media relationship in the region.
Community representative spokes person Isiaka Babayaro in attendance expressed hopes to see the facility better manage to the benefit and satisfaction of the community.
