Interior minister Atanga Nji facing the press after meeting

At the security evaluation meeting of thursday November 7th at the governors office, which came a day after what minister Atanga Nji Paul termed
"a successful celebration of the 37th anniversary of president Paul Biya's ascension to the office of supreme magistracy in Cameroon",

the interior boss, was also very Frank and categorical on the decision which will require commercial bike riders in Bamenda city and beyond to carry in the days ahead, not more than one person at a go on their bikes.

Flanked by North West governor adolph Lele L'afrique, SDO's, other administrative and security bigwigs of the region, the minister after listening to security reports presented by the aforementioned said, it was  time to implement the decision, giving that the 9 plus extra 3 months of grace required by the bike riders syndicate to install sanity in the sector(obtain required documents, paint their tanks yellow and get identification jacket bearing name of sub division they operate in etc) was long overdue.

On the same subject matter, the minister said and I quote

".. we have realize that the motor bike sector and riders, have been implicated in so many atrocities in the region. They have masterminded kidnappings right in front of school, colleges and in market places and that's why we also had this meeting with them to let them know they must comply with the minimum requirements to exrcise their profession..a bike rider is suppose to carry one passenger, when they carry four people, you have two kidnap people who're on the motorcycle.."

He handed a peace plant to the syndicate president calling on them to serve as peace crusaders and to enure their fellow comrades in the region, respect strictly the rules and regulations as they exercise their profession. Failure to adhere to the rules enforced will lead to seizure of bike and the systematic detainment of the rider in question, he added.

Speaking earlier, he saluted governor Lele L'afrique who despite other security challenges such as road blocks, tourd the divisions during the installation of prefects.

Calling on those who are still in the bushes which he said were the last pocket of resistance, to show up at the DDR vocational centers where they will be provided skills to live a responsible life.

Minister Atanga Paul nji says there's an increase in the enrollment of students and pupils in schools, more IDP's returning home and more collaboration between the population and local administrative officials which makes it easy now to combat terrorism in the region.
