"The governor is my main collaborator in the region yet i had no choice. The prescriptions of the head of state read by the prime minister says we shouldn't shake hands, we should give a distance of about 1metre yet I see your microphones are too close to me, You're not even observing the one metre distance.
However I went around the town yesterday with the governor and observed that some bars and restaurants were not observing the 6pm closing hour. we'll hammer on them because these are measures that must be respected. That will be the best way for us to fight against this virus. Prevention is better than
I even urge you the Journalists to wash your hands as many as 14 times per day" cameroon's interior minister Atanga Nji
The decision not to stretch his hand to his collaborators upon arrival as has always been the case before the outbreak Covid-19 at the Bamenda up station polling centre where he showed up to cast his vote, was in respect to the measures taken by the Cameroon gov't to limit the spread of the virus with 40cases recorded already in the country as at yesterday evening.
Interior minister Paul Atanga Nji even accused the media men and women interviewing him for not respecting the one metre gap prescribed by health experts as one of the measures to avoid contamination.
To note that it wasn't just him that was greeted by the hand sanitizer team stationed at the polling centre to ensure electorates who showed up to perform their civic duty are sanitized before accessing the ballot boxes.
From the governor to the senior divisional officer for mezam to the minister even the electorates had to sanitize themselves before accessing the various polling stations.
