Help Us Regain the Council Premises- Bamenda II Mayor

The mayor of Bamenda II council Peter Chenwi has pleaded with the quarter heads of all four villages that make up the council area to help him regain access to the council premises at mbingfibie from where he can deliver the much needed development he promised those of the locality when he took the oath of office last month.
To note that the locks of the council premises where doubled after the twin elections of February 9th by non-state armed actors who had warned for citizens in the region not to take part in the polls.
"We have shared our visions with the quarter heads. We are pleading with them to go back and assist us sensitize and get the boys out of the bushes. If it's food we'll give them, if it's money we'll give them. Let them come so we can sit and talk. We don't and will not involve the military. Grants are available, projects are available. We have all that it takes to alleviate poverty and empower them now. Let them open the council doors. There's a huge budget for that. Look at what we've provided here today, there's still more.
We'll hand them the packages we have for them and to all in the municipality" the mayor said.
According to the mayor, rallying the quarter heads at the Bamenda Epic centre thursday April 9th, to also gain knowledge from health experts on the sanitary measures to guard against Covid-19, was the best way to create a ripple effect of the campaign the council has embarked upon within the Community and get their opinions on the development agenda of the Community.
"The council has decided to henceforth involve all the quarter heads as development partners of the council. In this light all quarter heads are to benefit from a good number of advantages and financial benefits from the council in order to motivate and empower them financially as one of our drives to alleviate poverty in our community"
The quarter heads also had the opportunity to spell out the needs of their localities and made suggestions on how best they can assist the council generate revenue in overcoming the problems of potable water, electricity insecurity, capacity building etc, raised as some of the key challenges.
A medical team from the bamenda II district hospital gave practical lessons on the sanitary measures on COVID-19 and taught the quarter heads how to produce hand sanitizers.
Bucket taps, sanitizers, tissues, face masks soaps and other basic hygienic products were handed to the quarter heads to placed at strategic areas of their various quarters.
Mayor Peter Chenwi promised rent and tax reduction for business men and women operating businesses within his municipality amongst others during his installation.
Few weeks back he reduced rents for shop owners and business persons within the municipality.
The brainstorming/sensitization session with the quarter heads took place in the absence of the 1st deputy Mayor of the council who was picked up by non-state armed actors few days after he contested the elections for the post of city mayor of Bamenda.
