NW/SW Reconstruction: Hon. YoYo Emmanuel Recommends Reconciliation First.

Hon. YoYo Mohmbankah Emmanuel

"For effective reconstruction to take place in the North West and South West regions of the country, there must be a marshall plan for reconcilation"

Former SDF member of parliament for Ndop Yoyo Mohmbankah  Emmanuel, made the submission Wednesday June 24th as authorities from Mezam, Momo and  Ngoketungia met with the national Co-ordinator of the reconstruction and development program Paul Tasong, to brainstorm on possible ways to achieve a successful implementation of the development plan in these divisions.

The one time questor of Cameroon's National Assembly,  questioned the possibility of a reconstruction process in divisions were insecurity has forced authorities in these areas to not execute majority of programs under the public investment Budget within this crisis period.

" ..It is not the ambition nor how fast we want to begin the reconstruction process that matters. People have been suggesting things here and i can easily ask some of them - Do you have the possibility to carryout these projects?.

We all know that some of the mayor's and parliamentarians here haven't been able to access their constituencies and execute their policies. These personalities who are suppose to stay back with their people and execute these projects haven't been to their constituencies for a very long time because of insecurity. Who will stay back and execute all what they're outlining here?

"..alot of suggestions have been made here and to add to it , I think this reconcilation should be a very important component in your plan of action. Let us reconcile the people first. In addition to that, we should have the chiefs resettled, the MP's and mayors go back to their constituencies and municipalities.. You cannot stay in yaounde, come to Bamenda, talk here and leave. It doesn't help the people nor your Community."

Cross section of authorities from the three divisions.

YoYo Emmanuel aslo suggest that at a time like this, everyone should be realistic and accept their failures and for such a reconciliation plan to envisage a future for those who'll be willing to step out from the bushes.

"If we don't do all these things we'll work and end up realizing that while we are building and going ahead, some people are destroying and coming from behind".

The reconcilation am referring to should between those in the bushes and the government. He added.

Traditional authorities

Other submissions made included the need for the reconstruction commission to;

- engage actively, the developmental associations of the various villages in the process.

- Need for the military to wear a civilian face in it's reception of seperatist combatants that are willing to surrender their guns. These recommendation was backed by some of the traditional authorities in attendance.
