They came out with posters bearing messages like "We Want Pens Not Guns" "We Never Bargained For This" "Ngarbu, Muyuka, Kumba, Never Again", also citing that women are the hardest hit by the crisis.

"We appreciate the efforts of madam Achidi for organising this. It's an opportunity for women to come out and explain how they feel about the children they're loosing everyday. As mothers of the north west and south west, we don't want our children to die any longer, we are calling those killing them be it government or the armed groups to stop because we can no longer bare the pain. We pray that the God we just prayed to will answer us" One of them by name nyingcho Regine said.

For Mama Ndikum Mary, a queen mother from Akum, it's wasn't a matter to wait for another incident before taking action. She said they've endured enough and had to come out.

"We are begging our children in the bushes and the government to stop. If the children are all death by the end of the crisis, who'll bury us when we die tmrw? About the children that were killed in school in Kumba, if we don't send them to school how will they help us and their brothers and sisters. Let them stop the killing and dialogue" she said.
