@FEHACU 2021: HRM SF Azefor III exhorts natives to embrace, celebrate abused, misunderstood culture

"... there's deep meaning in coining this event the Festival Heritage of Arts and Culture. We are by this theme invited to revisit our roots and discover the treasure that is in our culture, a treasure that has been abused, ignored and misunderstood at so many levels.." the fon said.

"A people without a knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like trees without roots"- the Fon quoted Marcus Gavey whose revolutionary works led to the liberation of slaves during slavery era

Thrilled by the fact that this was the first ever festival organized by an institution and not the palace, he urged the natives and youths in particular to celebrate and cherish their heritage for "it is the foundation upon which we seek to build a peaceful and prosperous community"

The Nkwen village is made up of 6 clans with a total of 62 quarters and 6 sub chiefs, with over 189 thousand inhabitants according to a recent census.

To His royal majesty Fon Azefor III, Nkwen is not just the gateway into the Bamenda III municipality but positions itself also as one of the fastest growing villages within the aub division, hosting a great number of schools, public and private establishemets and industries.

To better enshrine the Nkwen cultural values into Nkwen children, he indicated that Nkwen language committee organized every holiday, classes for teens where teens are being taught the Nkwen language.

He praised the efforts of the Nkwen village development committee for championing a number of socio-cultural and developmental projects within the municipality, with the recent being distribution of over 100 wash hand stations , hand sanitizers and thousands the f Covid-19 kits to guard against the health pandemic.

The maiden edition of the Bamenda III festival heritage of arts and culture has been organized by the council, reason why his majesty didn't seized the opportunity to calmour for the extension of basic developmental amenities like electricity, roads water into enclave zones.
