NASLA Entrance Exam: Bamenda Disarmament Center Occupant among successful candidates

The co-ordinator of the Bamenda Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration Centre, kum Henry Ichu, has celebrated the results of one of the occupants, who succeeded in the entrance examination into the National School of Local Administration - NASLA.
The girl in question, who recorded a pass mark under 'Administration and Management of Social Policies - Cycle B', and whose identity has been concealed by this reporter for her own safety told MNews237 that "One of the many things I asked when i got to the DDR centre, was for the government to allow me continue my education. The Chief of Centre agreed and some of us started schooling. That's how I got my advance level and now this entrance examination".
She explained that her success means a lot to her, and should send across a message to those still in the bushes, who thought and still thinks the Bamenda disarmament Centre is a shadow of itself.
"To the women and men in the bushes still carrying arms, I want to let you understand that your future depends on you, how you build it and what you want to become. The DDR is real and it's all about determination. I am at the DDR and my dreams are still coming true. The DDR is real.. "
She also remarked on the occasion accorded to celebrate her that, nothing good will come from the bushes, for those dragging their feet.
"Let them come to the DDR, where they will be able to meet up with their dreams". She said.
Succeeding the entrance examination into the National School of Local Administration according to her, falls within an ambition she has always nursed, which is to become a great woman in society.
"unfortunately or fortunately, things happened the way they did and I was forced to join those in the bush. I later realise that wasn't my call and joined the DDR when the occasion presented itself" she added
According to the Co-ordinator of the center, Kum Henry, the success story of this lady and others at the center who are striving to change their lives, remains a milestone in the reintegration process.
"This success is like a culmination of our objectives. When the head of state created the centre, the purpose was to give a second chance to these people to rebuild their lives and the Bamenda disarmament is a place where this happens"
He added that, it should serve as a reminder, that those at the centre has a future like any other Cameroonian.
"At the disarmament center, you can excel in vocational training, better your professional life and even become a civil servant like this ex fighter who just passed the NASLA exams."
He used the occasion to thank the authorities - the Governor and Director of the National School of Local Administration and the ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development for allowing the former fighters take the entrance examination.
"It is a springboard for other fighters in the bushes to know that in the disarmament center, they can change their lives. This young lady passed the Advanced Level and this year it's the NASLA exams. It's something to write home about."
The National School of Local Administration was created in the wake of the anglophone crisis 2020.
Placed under the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Administration, the school with headquarters in Buea has as mission, to train Cameroonian on Local Administration in accordance with the stipulations put in place by government.
