South West: Steering Committee President Salutes Execution Rate of President Biya's Reconstruction Plan in the Region

Inhabitants of the South West Region and those in Fako division in particular, have taken a firm commitment to protect and guard jealously,  projects which have realised under the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the South West Region.

Projects already executed alongside those still under reconstruction within the same framework on Wednesday March 22, came under scrutiny.

On the ground himself to inspect these projects was the Minister, Director of Cabinet at the Prime Minister's office, President of the Steering Committee of the reconstruction plan, Balungeli Confiance Ebune.

During his meeting with the beneficiaries, local development actors and implementing partners at the Buea Mountain Hotel, the activity report for 2022 was presented.

The meeting held on the high instruction of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute.

The Mayor of Buea Council, Mafany Namange, in his opening remark, applauded the Minister for choosing Buea, despite the the challenge brought about by the flood that hit the municipality on Saturday March 18.

Mayor Mafany also expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the Presidential Plan to the people of Buea and the South West region as a whole.

The President of the Steering Committee of the Presidential Plan paid tribute to the victims of the flood disaster.

He confessed to the signing of a loan agreement that currently financing the plan and described it as a step in the right direction.

The Minister stated:"Within the framework of this impetus for the reconstruction of these two regions, the Prime Minister instructed this mission which comprises of sectorial ministries with the aim of having first-hand information in order to fine-tune it."


After the meeting, the President of the Steering Committee and his delegation visited some of the projects such as:

- The Buea Town Islamic school,
- St. Joseph College, Sasse,
- Ewongo and Wotutu in Limbe I and the Bakingili Health Centre.

He expressed satisfaction with the job done so far and thanked their partners for the support given so far.

The Prime Minister he said, will be handed a report of the developments and appealed to those who are still holding arms or using the social media to create chaos in the communities, to embrace peace.

He enjoined them to desist from the practice of terrorising the population and helped the head of state in his vision of mission of achieving peace.

After the visit to St. Joseph College Sasse, the Principal, Reverend Father Anunchem, was grateful that the plan has enabled the reconstruction of the dormitory, fence and water supply to the college.


South West Regional Governor Okalia Bilai, alongside the president of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction of the North West and South West Regions, Obase Tamanjong, all accompanied the President of the Steering Committee all through the visit.
