North West Regional Assembly's Peace, Development Initiative In Santa, Well On Course
Under the theme “ Peace and Sustainable Development “, the
Santa Peace and Development Initiative, a project of the North West Regional Assembly
intended to restore harmony and normalcy in the sub division, has been launched.
The launching took place November 16th at the Santa council hall under the watchful eyes of the the Santa peace and development president Ngufor Emmanuel Che, flanked by the divisional officer for Santa Roger Nkolo, the technical adviser for the project, Acham Becky, personal representative of the North West Assembly’s Commissioner for Economic Development Sylvia waindim plus members of the initiative.
Speaking, Ngufor Emmanuel thank the assembly for the initiating
the project and the local authorities for jumping onboard the peace bandwagon in
the sub division.
He used the occasion to call on those who were still with
arms in the bushes to come out and join them in the mission of peace building
The D.O on his part, in stressing on the importance of peace,
likened peace to water, which in it’s absence symbolizes the absence of life.
“ Now our days, when is no peace, there’s no life. 90 percent
of you in this hall are youths. You are and should be the ambassadors of peace…
“
The commissioner for economic developments representative from
the regional assembly Sylvia waindim’s message to the audience laid emphasis on
the for the youths to not hold back as the peace initiative was a project
designed for/belongs to them.
“ What we are doing here today is building peace by turning promises
into deeds and reaffirming our statehood to a Cameroon that wants to see us develop
and succeed. While we are facing challenges as a region, the assembly
understands that it is still critical to support locally -led developments,
reason why this project has been specifically designed with you in mind “ she said.
The technical adviser of the project, Hon. Acham Becky,
speaking at the event said “ Peace is essential for every aspect of life. It’s time
to break the violence by promoting peace in Santa”.
She encouraged youths in Santa to adopt the bottom top
approach and community spirits in every developmental efforts in Santa
while seeking government support.
Cutlasses , wheelbarrows and other cleaning gadgets were
distributed to the members of the peace initiative, to facilitate the cleaning
of the community so that activities in the sub division can unfold in a clean Serene
atmosphere.
