ICT University's tech solution to Cancer project wins first place at National Pitch Competition

A team comprising of four graduates from the ICT University has beaten over 20 other candidates to secure first position at the Cameroon National Pitch Competition, to book a spot at the global event that comes up in May 2024 this year in Abu Dhabi.

Team leader Anzia Juvis and his compatriots Abdoul Azis, Baimam Boukar Jean Jacques and Chendjou Honore won the hearts of the jury with a video projection of their innovative tech solution to Cancer project known as 'The Intellibra'.

The contest which took place at the nation's capital last Thursday was an initiative of Aim Global and Accelerate Africa.

The innovative solutions to global issues contest at the national level, saw over 20 teams participating and in the end, the jury cast their lots on ICT University graduate's 'intellibra' amongst the numerous pitches.

Presenting intellibra, the team leader Anzia Juvis Said "The Intellibra is a kit composed of a portable ultrasound imaging system embedded in a bra with a user-friendly mobile application. The ultrasound device emits waves into breast tissues, captures echoes, and sends the signals to the mobile app, users can initiate scans, and receive diagnostic insights derived from machine learning algorithms"

To her, the  comprehensive solution not only facilitates prompt diagnosis but also offers options for medical record storage, sharing, and communication with healthcare professionals.

The ICT University team has indicated that their biggest challenge now is winning the finals of the competition in Dubai.

"We intend to win the finals in Dubai , getting our device recognized by the ministry of health and getting funds to producing our first 100 devices and placing them in different health centers, hospitals ( both in rural and urban areas) and intellibra points"

She said the idea of 'The intellibra' was conceived at the ICT University in level one, where they were asked to find a problem in their society and solve it.

"Through courses like research methods, our programming courses, we got the knowledge needed to build the mobile application, conduct research and advice from some of our instructors and dean helped us move forward in our findings" she said
