4 Years On: Bamenda II Council Mayor, Chenwie Peter Renders Stewardship Account to the Community

The head of the Bamenda II Municipal Council in Mezam division of the North West region, Mayor Chenwie Peter, has presented a Balance Sheet of his accomplishments since becoming Mayor of the municipality, following the twin legislative and municipal elections of February 9 2020.
With his first mandate in office set to expire come 2025, the chief executive officer of the Bamenda II council area on April 2nd, indicated that it was incumbent on him as mayor to present to the electorates, a report card of his stewardship of the council.
"We were elected to serve and we are soon moving into another election next year. You can't move into another election without presenting to the electorates and the community what you have accomplished and what you intend to achieve for them in the future" Mayor chenwie said.
The Mayor who took over office when the anglophone crisis was already making work difficult for most local authorities, said it was his huge appetite for development, his zealousness to create an impact within the council area and the steadfastness of his collaborators that the council have been, for the past four years put at the disposal of the community for public consumption, a good number of facilities.
".. four years on despite the security challenges, we've been able to execute certain tasks, thanks to close collaboration with the quarter heads, the Fons, the administration and the our very collaborative population. Also thanks to the supervisory role played by the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam" he affirm.
2020 - 2024 Report Card
Four years on as mayor, Mr Chenwie Peter said he's has been able to touch and make an impact in almost all the sectors of his municipality. From road grading to construction and equipping of schools and medical centers.
Provision of water and electricity, Infrastructural development, organization of sporting and leisure events, support to persons with disabilities, donations amongst others.
MNews, with it's see-before-you-believe nature, was at the council premises, where some of the excuted projects were presented to it's cream of reporters and other media outfits that went digging.
Health Promotion
The council has so far been able to donate medical equipments to the Chomba, Azire, Alabukam and Alamandom health districts.
It has also been able to rehabilitate the Bamenda II and Nchualam health districts, as well as the extension of the laboratory and maternity ward of the Ntankah health center as seen in the pictures.
Education
Mayor Chenwie as his partners under education have been able to carry out multiple donations, promoting education by offering back-to-school assistance to pupils, students, persons with disabilities, internally displaced children, classroom renovations amongst others.
Equipment Pool
The equipment pool of the council has been expanded with the purchase of front end loader, a dump truck, with mayor chenwie indicating that more was on the way, thanks to partnership signed with companies and some councils in Canada and other countries he visited and had the opportunity to establish relations with.
Infrastructural development
Conspicuous amongst them is the Bamenda II council community hall in ntambag, block molding factory in mbingfibieh, social lodging facility, the mulang community hall and the Mankon vocational training center.
There's also the extension of the civil status centre in mbingfibieh and construction of modern toilets at the Mankon Fons palace
Road Infrastructure
There have been construction of bridges and culverts such as the bridge linking fowah in mbatu the Akaka bridge at New Bell, grading of roads amongst others
Social Actions
Here the council as observed appears to have made a series of donations by offering start-up capital to a good number of youths to start up their businesses as well as provision of wheel chairs and crutches to persons with disabilities amongst others
Water and electricity
Numerous modern boreholes currently serving the population of the Ntamulung area and the ntambag muslim community at old town and many other communities
Market Construction
The ongoing construction of the market at Mile 90 Nsongwa.
Mayor Chenwie Peter also revealed that more of such projects aare on the pipeline.
The multiple award winning and distinguished mayor presented a roadmap for the municipality which MNews also captured in the image below.
Cameroon as per the electoral Calender will cast their votes for the legislative and municipal elections next year 2025.
It will be an opportunity for them to renew their confidence in those who've served them well, and cast out those local authorities who didn't deliver on their promise.
