CENPA Award 2024: Workaholic Mayor Chenwi Peter Celebrated

The mayor of Bamenda II municipality, Chenwi Peter is again on the spotlight owing to his efforts and contributions towards local development and for continuously working to improve the welfare of those within his council area and beyond.

The workaholic mayor bagged home the " The most resilient, innovative and development-oriented mayor" award, honouring his unwavering commitment in the development of the Bamenda II municipality through adaptive measures that have made decentralization real to the population, despite the security challenges.

The recognition was handed to him by the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA), at their maiden edition of a prestigious award ceremony that took place Thursday July 25 at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel.

Amongst the lot, Mayor Chenwi Peter was found worthy by a cream of jury comprising of Barrister Akere Muna as president, senator Nfon Mukete as secretary, with Ngah Christian and Esther Omam as members.

Since becoming mayor in February of 2020, Chenwi Peter has spare no effort in lobbying and executing projects with socio-economic impacts, currently benefiting those of his municipality and beyond.

In early April this year, the council presented to the media, a series of projects which the mayor has been able to realize during his four years, so far at the helm council.

Donation of medical equipments to almost all the integrated health centers in the community, construction of bridges, markets and boreholes to solve the problem of water scarcity, purchase of road and other heavy duty equipments, scholarships and support to students, the less privilege and those with disabilities, payments of the fees of children of some bike riders and assistance to bike riders themselves, electrification projects to name but these are all achievements the mayor can pride himself with.

The CENPA award night at the Yaounde Hilton had in attendance state and non state dignitaries of no mean repute including cabinet ministers of the current regime.

Secondary education ministry lauds efforts of assembly in promoting education in crisis-hit North West
