The auditorium of the North West regional Assembly will play host to the 14th ordinary session of the house from Monday 16th to Wednesday 18th September 2024.
Though members will be convening for the 16th time, this seating will mark the 14th ordinary session as there's been two extra-ordinary sessions in the current mandate of the people's representative at the assembly.
At a media briefing, Sunday September 15, the president of the regional legislative body, professor Fru Angwafor III indicated that the session will provide an opportunity for the members, who are already 45 months gone into their 60-month mandate, to evaluate the ground covered so far.
Projects executed by the structure in the entire North West from 2021-2024 will be reviewed in the session. An evaluation that will also take into account the utilisation rates of the social amenities provided, the functionality of schools and the supports provided by the assembly to affected populations.
To professor Fru Angwafor III, the above mentioned activity is critical as it will help set the tone for the 2025 budget to be voted during the December budgetary session.
The session will see the assembly donating 32 computers and accessories to the ICT units of some 32 top-performing secondary schools in the region.
103 of the best - performing students from last year's end-of-course examinations will be honoured.
A total of eighty (80) deliberations adopted by the assembly so far will be examined to asses those that have been effectively implemented, and the challenges hampering the implementation of others .
The Assembly's balance sheet in terms of projects undertaken; including, studies, constructions, rehabilitations, environmental initiatives, social outings to vulnerable groups across the crisis-affected region will be presented.
Matured consolidated projects which have been identified with local communities, civil society, peace and development committees and other stakeholders will be discussed.
As the state currently elaborates the 2025 budget, the North West Regional Assembly as part of the process, will use this September session to engage and discuss priority projects that have been voted and adopted with key ministries, particularly that of secondary education, public health amongst others, in line with the national strategic development plan for 2020-2030.
Another key highlight of the session will be capacity-building of participants.
A total of five invited facilitators will present on the following topics :
