CAMTEL's 'Blue Tech Challenge': Winners rewarded

Winners of the Cameroon Telecommunication's "Blue Tech Challenge", a project designed by the CAMTEL to honour innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, have bagged home start-up Capital and materials amounting to millions of francs CFA to execute their dream goals.

Presiding over the award of prizes, Camtel's General Manager Judith Yah Sunday in her opening remark indicated that, away from highlighting the opportunities in Cameroon's digital ecosystem, the "Blue Tech Challenge is more than a competition; it is a show-case for digital excellence of made in Cameroon".

She said "It is through such initiatives that we'll continue to push our nation towards digital excellence in the world"


Candidates who entered the competition presented a total of 289 projects and just 30 made it to the final stage of the challenge in different categories according to Christian sesame who managed the competition. To him, all the projects selected embraced inclusion.

"All the projects are unique will all having the potentials to transform our society" he said.

He added that two boot camps were organized to drill the candidates, with technical know-how from Camtel.

Conspicuous amongst the winning projects was "LINA", a mobile application that facilitates mobility for visually impaired persons. It's promoter by name Hessack Ryan said the ' eye glasses with a Camara captures images, process ans transmits same information to the user in   audio.

"it collects images and can alert the user on the type of image collected and the distance between the object and him or her" he added.


The other projects that won the challenge and it's winners as selected by a college of jury, can be seen in the image below.

 The selection process according to the jury president Francis Ottou, Technical Adviser No. 1 at Camtel was free, fair, and transparent.

 “All the candidates were given equal chances.”

The winners in different categories were shown to the public.

Launched May 21 2024 via a release, inviting up coming digital entrepreneurs to compete in 4major categories, the initiative according to Camtel's General Manager Judith Yah Sunday "Will push our nation towards digital excellence in the world".



She said through the initiative, CAMTEL was only positioning itself to respect it's commitment towards the youth population in the country, especially those in the field of technology.

The organization of the award was in tandem with celebrations marking CAMTEL's 25th anniversary launched in 2023.
