Santa, Bali, Tubah sub divisions score high in project execution in Mezam for 2024

The municipalities of Santa, Bali and Tubah have been saluted for performing well in the execution of projects under the public investment program for 2024 in Mezam.
Members of the participatory follow-up committee met Friday January 24th and rated the quality of projects delivered to the citizens of the division by the card holders, contractors and other stakeholders in the execution chain.
Mezam for 2024 had a total of 101 projects funded under the investment budget to the tune of over fcfa 2billion 990million . It was revealed at the 4th quarter evaluation session that as at December of 2024, 75 out of the 101 projects had been completed and received, with 21 ongoing and 5 not engaged at all.
With physical realization at 85.47% and financial engagement at 99.59%, the chair person of the meeting Nestus Fru, who doubles as member of parliament for Bamenda-Bali constituency, called on those who were still dragging their feets with projects to speed up the process so that the beneficiary communities can start making good use of them.
He however, called on the stakeholders to uphold and promote transparency through inclusive approach in the management of Public Investment Budget(PIB), ensuring that the projects are qualitative and sustainable as well.
He said the committee is firm in it's resolve to see no project(s) abandoned, reason why bad practices in the award and execution process must be denounce by all.
Ranking the councils going by their performance, the Bamenda city council with three projects for 2024 came first and scored 100%
The city council had as projects, the rehabilitation of street lights along some major streets in Bamenda using LED lamps, purchase of grader fpr the council and construction of five boreholes equipped with solar pumps in some localities in the city.
Santa, Bali and Tubah came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Bamenda I, Bafut, Bamenda III and II sits on the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th positions in terms of project realization.
The Mezam divisional delegate of the ministry the economy, planning and regional development, Mawong Evelyn hinted at the meeting that some contractors who took commitments before the state counsel and gendarmerie to deliver projects they had long abandoned, have failed again, warranting another action.
A good number of resolutions was taken to ensure that executed projects meets with their specifications as in the projects logbook, some of which includes;
For funds to be allocated only for matured projects from the project bank
That control engineers , project owners to get often get copies of projects before heading to the field so they can check if realized projects align with what is suppose to be.
It was also agreed that funding ministries should hence be made contract managers in all the projects they're funding to ensure accountability.
