Bamenda I Mayor, Councilors, celebrate five years of service to population

The Mayor of Bamenda I council, Mbigha Felix njah, accompanied by his staff and Councilors have given thanks to God for the strength, knowledge and wisdom for successfully pilot the activities of the council to the benefit of those in the sub division and beyond.
The team, on Sunday of February 9 2025 celebrated mass with Christians at the Reformed Overcomers Chapel up station Bamenda, where they offered thanksgiving to God for being the source of their inspiration, according to mayor Mbigha Felix.
In his homily, the revered pastor of ROC(Reformed Overcomers Chapel), Paul Achobong Tembang, who is also councilor for the siad municipality and mayor of the city of Bamenda said" people can help to vote for you but it is God who approves you".
He supplicated the hand of God for another mandate to the mayor and his collaborators, so they can continue in their mission of peace building and development initiative together with the community.
He called on God to intercede for them and grant them the grace to continue the job they do.
Mayor Mbigha Felix at the thanks giving, told the congregation that it's largely thanks to the quarter heads of the Bamendakwe Village, that the municipality is free from the havoc and terror that currently reign in some other parts of Bamenda and beyond due to the crisis.
According to the mayor, the extension of the mandate of municipal authorities by the head of state Paul Biya, presents an opportunity to embark on more development programs in the community, away from what have been accomplished already.
To his deputies and councilors, he thanked them for pushing him towards some of the key decisions the council has taken thus far.
"Our first project was to sue for peace and we remained truthful and stood for that peace and we'll continue to work to sustain the peace. and is not by our might alone but also the handwork of God" he added.
Many people in the city of Bamenda have fled their homes to the municipality as a result of the security and relative peace that exist there, as compared to other parts of the city.
Some home owners downtown Bamenda have left their comfortable houses and are now living in the municipality.
The Bamenda I municipality for past three years has seen great development in infrastructure as those with the means and liquidity, continue to buy land and erect houses within a twinkle of an eye.
As a result of these mad rush, land owners have triple their asking price.
The city council mayor, at one of the Bamenda I council session, had called for a respect of the building plan of the municipality to ensure orderly construction of houses in the area.
