Over 90 bike riders in the municipality benefited from the support, which was handed to them on Wednesday, September 29, at the Bamenda II Council Hall. Mayor Chenwi Peter said the initiative is part of his continued support for bike riders in the municipality, whom he described as important partners of the council. By Martial Gnoukapasir  Yaoundé, 28 September 2026 — The Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians of Cameroon (SOGOC) has marked International Safe Abortion Day with a solemn appeal on behalf of women and girls who continue to suffer in silence from unsafe abortion and barriers to lawful reproductive health care. Cameroonian law already recognises circumstances in which abortion may be legally permitted. Article 339 of the Penal Code provides for abortion where a pregnancy places the mother's life in grave danger or where the pregnancy results from rape. In such circumstances, SOGOC says, women should be able to access a health facility and receive appropriate guidance, with dignity and in accordance with the procedures prescribed by law. Beyond these exceptions, however, abortion remains restricted. By Martial Gnoukapasir Prefectoral Order designating Mbengwiteghenibi a 3rd-class fondom Despite the protests in Mbengwi few days back, one fact remains, that the Senior Divisional Officer for Momo Division, Fouda Etaba Benoit, officially signed the prefectoral order creating the 3rd Class Chiefdom of Mbengwi teghenibi village in Mbengwi Sub Division, North West Region. The administrative decision, officially recognizes Mbengwiteghenibi as a distinct traditional entity within Momo Division. According to the order, the newly created fondom will maintain clearly defined territorial boundaries, separating it administratively from neighboring villages and quarters around Mbengwi. The document also empowers the Divisional Officer for Mbengwi to organize consultation talks aimed at the future designation of a traditional ruler for the new chiefdom.
