Alombah Anderson Akondi, President of the CPDM Awing I Subsection Atuala, has urged young militants to prepare for future leadership through education, discipline, responsible communication and collaboration with experienced party officials.

He was speaking during the Mezam II YCPDM Section Conference, held in Santa on Saturday, October 24, 2026, under the theme, “Youths as Flag Bearers and Guarantors of the Present and Future of the CPDM Party.”

Addressing participants, Akondi emphasised that young militants have an important responsibility to represent the party wherever they find themselves, insisting that their conduct should reflect its values and principles.

He explained that the strength and continuity of the party depend not only on its established structures and leadership but also on the ability of young people to contribute meaningfully to its present activities while preparing for future responsibilities.

According to him, youths must demonstrate commitment through their actions, conduct and interactions with members of their communities.

Akondi called on young militants to uphold truthful and constructive communication, particularly on social media, where misinformation and the circulation of false information remain concerns.

He encouraged them to communicate responsibly, verify information before sharing it and avoid contributing to the spread of fake news.

The CPDM Awing I Subsection President said young militants should use digital platforms positively, promoting constructive discussions rather than content that encourages division and misunderstanding.

He further urged them to draw inspiration from the leadership example of President Paul Biya, whom he described as hardworking, focused and committed to the stewardship of the nation.

For Akondi, being a flag bearer of the CPDM goes beyond displaying party symbols or participating in political gatherings. It also involves demonstrating discipline, patience and responsibility in everyday life.

The CPDM Awing I Subsection President also urged young militants to maintain respectful relationships with senior party officials, noting that many established leaders had dedicated decades to building the party.

He cautioned youths against seeking to challenge experienced leaders without first learning from their experience and understanding the responsibilities associated with political leadership.

Instead, he encouraged them to work closely with their mentors, learn gradually and demonstrate patience as they develop their political and leadership capacities.

Akondi stressed that intergenerational collaboration was essential to ensuring continuity within the party, adding that young people could benefit from the experience of older militants while contributing fresh ideas and energy.

He noted that preparing for leadership requires a willingness to learn, respect established experience and develop the qualities needed to manage responsibilities effectively.

Drawing from his professional experience as Director of General Affairs at the North West Regional Assembly, Akondi underscored the importance of education and skills development in preparing young people for leadership.

He challenged young militants to take their academic pursuits seriously, acquire relevant professional skills and continue developing their knowledge rather than aspiring to positions without the necessary preparation.

According to him, young people seeking leadership responsibilities must demonstrate competence, knowledge and the capacity to contribute to the development of their communities.

He encouraged them to invest in education, acquire new skills and prepare themselves for future opportunities in public administration, politics and other areas of service.

Akonji maintained that although young people are often described as leaders of tomorrow, their ability to assume such responsibilities depends largely on the preparation they undertake today.

He urged the youths of Mezam II to combine political participation with personal development, responsible conduct and a commitment to community service.

The presentation formed part of discussions at the Mezam II YCPDM Section Conference, which focused on the contribution of young people to the present strength and future continuity of the CPDM.

The conference highlighted the importance of youth mobilisation, leadership development, unity and collaboration between younger militants and experienced party officials.

Akondi's message placed particular emphasis on preparing young people to assume greater responsibilities through education, mentorship and responsible participation in party and community activities.

He called on the youths to translate the conference's theme into practical action, insisting that the future of any organisation depends on the willingness of its younger generation to learn, develop their capacities and serve responsibly.

He concluded by encouraging YCPDM Mezam II militants to remain committed to personal growth and collective responsibility, stressing that effective future leadership must be built on knowledge, patience, integrity and practical preparation.
