The Mezam Permanent Divisional Delegation of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) has stepped up preparations for the celebration of the 44th anniversary of the accession of the Party's National Chairman, President Paul Biya, to the Presidency of the Republic, scheduled for Friday, November 6, 2026.
In an announcement dated November 2, 2026, and addressed to all CPDM, WCPDM and YCPDM Section Presidents in Mezam, the Divisional Team Leader, Min. Felix Mbayu, outlined financial, organisational and mobilisation measures expected to guide activities across the division.
The announcement follows resolutions adopted during the North West CPDM Elite Concertation Meeting held on October 28, 2026, which underscored the need for effective grassroots mobilisation and broad participation in the anniversary celebrations.
According to the communication, celebrations should not be limited to Bamenda but extended to other sections of the division wherever circumstances permit. The initiative is intended to bring the anniversary closer to party militants and the wider population.

To ensure proper coordination, all CPDM, WCPDM and YCPDM Section Presidents have been requested to submit their proposed programmes of activities. The programmes are expected to be prepared through consultations and coordination among the three party organs and forwarded sufficiently early to facilitate harmonisation at the divisional level.
On financial and organisational arrangements, the announcement provides for FCFA 250,000 in support to each section towards the celebrations.
However, Bamenda I, Bamenda II and Bamenda III, which are expected to celebrate alongside the Regional Team at the Congress Hall, will operate under separate arrangements.
Minister Felix Mbayu has called on the various party structures to demonstrate commitment, collaboration and mobilisation to ensure that the anniversary is celebrated with the enthusiasm, dignity and political significance it deserves.
The November 6 celebration marks 44 years since President Paul Biya was sworn in as Cameroon's second President on November 6, 1982, following the resignation of former President Ahmadou Ahidjo.
This year's commemoration also coincides with the first anniversary of President Biya's swearing-in for his new presidential mandate on November 6, 2025.
