Covid-19:"Forget The Crisis For Now, Let's Stand as One Community Against Coronavirus - Tubah Mayor

Launching the campaign Friday April 3rd to put in place pre-emptive measures against the spread of Covid-19 into his municipality, the Mayor of Tubah Sub division Tanjong Martin told inhabitants of the council area that it was time to forget about any other conflicts facing the sub division and prioritize their health first. 

" It is time for us to come together and put all hands on deck. Forget about any other problem that we have in our community, country and families. mindless of these differences, let's put our hands together as one Community and fight this common enemy called Corona virus, and then we come back to examine ourselves on the way forward. As we  leave from here, let's take and make a commitment to prevent this pandemic from touching one of us, and the only way to do this will be to observe the hygiene and sanitation measures put in place by the world health organization and Cameroon government to fight against the spread of Covid-19. That's my plea to the population of Tubah"

A total of 100 hand washing machines, containing 10 littres of refillable hand disinfectants, plus hand sanitizers, buckets, gloves and face masks, billboards and flyers, estimated to the tune of 20Million by the mayor, are already being placed in the various markets, major and strategic junctions and institutions within the municipality. "Hand Wash" stations have been created as well.

Mayor Tanjong further announced a special clean up campaign of the markets in all the villages of the municipality.

"The only Vaccine we have now for the virus is to respect the 13 rules that have been laid down by WHO and the government of Cameroon"

Meantime the district medical officer for tubah Dr Cornelius Chebo, in a demonstration exercise reminded onlookers to always respect the rule of 9 in washing their hands. That's to say the hand washing exercise with soap must last at least 50secs though  advisable to last for 2mins maximum.

The divisional officer for Tubah sub division Garga Alim who used the occasion to ban marriages and burial celebrations within the municipality, enjoined the traditional and religious authorities, health personnels, bike and taxi drivers to assist the administration in implementing these  decisions aimed at discouraging public gatherings.

The campus of the university of Bamenda, some micro finance institutions and markets, received their own hand washing disinfectants stationed at their respective institutions.


On April 3rd, cameroon's public health minister announced 203 new cases, taking the number of persons with the virus to 509 in cameroon. 

There are fears this figure might witnessed an upsurge if stringent measures are not taken to enforce the measures to prevent further spread
