local liquor being served at FEHACU 2021

On this first day of the Bamenda III Festival Heritage of Arts and Cultures organized by the Bamenda III council under mayor Fongu Cletus, it's not just the  display by cultural groups that captures ones attention. 

Mêlu'u ma Fu` which translates to local liquor or "white mimbo" as it's commonly called in grassfield culture is being served to visitors.


It's not just about the drink being served from the traditional Calabash that wets ones appetite but the manner and conversation that accompanies the pouring as well. 


A good number of visitors confessed at the end of day one that it's the drink that kept them company throughout the activities marking day one of the festival

Three suspected traffickers arrested for illegal possession, trafficking of African grey parrots in Bertoua

An MNews Publication  Some of the 60 African grey parrots seized Three suspected traffickers have been arrested in Bertoua for the illegal possession and trafficking of African grey parrots. The traffickers that included a Ghanaian national were arrested during a crackdown operation conducted by wildlife officials of the East Regional Delegation of Forestry and Wildlife with technical assistance from a wildlife enforcement body known as the Last Great Ape Organisation – LAGA.  The suspects were found with 60 African grey parrots which they carried in the boot of a black Prado government service car belonging to a Divisional Officer. The arrests took place as they attempted to sell the parrots. Bamenda III Authorities Urge Foncha Junction Traders to Move to New Ntasen Market

By Martial Gnoukapasir  Ayuni Austin Sàka sensitizing traders at Foncha Junction The Divisional Officer for Bamenda III Subdivision, Saka Austin Ayuni, has sensitized petty traders operating at Foncha Junction in Bamenda and along the stretch down to S-Bend, Mile 3, urging them to desist from selling at the roadside and relocate to the newly constructed Ntasen market built by the Bamenda III Council. The Divisional Officer, accompanied by the Second Deputy Mayor of the Bamenda III Council, Margaret Ndzelen, carried out the sensitization exercise using a megaphone.  Addressing the traders, he reminded them to stop selling along the highway, warning that the sensitization mission conducted in the early hours of Wednesday, June 10, would be the last. He stated that stricter measures would be taken if the traders failed to heed the call to occupy spaces at the Ntasen Market at below Foncha.
