The president of the mezam IV section -Bafut of the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement Party - CPDM as part of activities celebrating the 37th anniversary of the party March 24 handed over improved maize seeds to Farmers.

Speaking as distribution of the maize seeds was on going, the section president who doubles as mayor of the Bafut municipality said "While celebrating the anniversary of the party, we are also thinking about the sustainability of our Militants who are celebrating. It was very important to bring in this agricultural aspect into the celebration considering we're almost into the planting season"

The seeds were made available, thanks to some CPDM party bigwigs and elites of Bafut whom according to the section president, deemed it necessary to crown such a celebration with the agricultural activity in emulation of the head of state whom  he describes as the number one agricultural technician.



"I want to seize this opportunity to thank the elites of Bafut for this. These corn seeds are mustard seeds that will multiply and give the people reasons to believe in the CPDM party" he added

The militants receiving the seeds after joining their counterparts and sympathizers at the Bamenda Congress Hall- birthplace of the party in 1985 under the 'New Deal' government of president Biya, expressed satisfaction with the initiative.

A militant and beneficiary receiving her own seeds "I want to thank the section president for this. By sharing these seeds he's telling us to go plant and harvest just like he's planting in us. During harvesting I as a militant will always remember that the CPDM gave us a something to invest in".

Also in attendance during the  maize seed handing ceremony to mark the 37th anniversary of the party celebration were two notables and councillors of the Bafut council. 

The 37th anniversary celebration of the CPDM party took place under the theme: 

"Let us mobilise more behind the National President, President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, in order to ensure the specificity of our country in the relentless peace building, unity, solidarity and progress, in a  nation resolutely turned towards shared emergence”.

The donation is coming at a time when the national observatory on climate change is encouraging farmers to sow at this period.
