North West: Bafut Council adopts FCFA1,18,000,000 budget for 2023

The adopted budget which is balanced in income and expenditure according to mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence takes into cognisance the 2019 regulated financial regime of regional and local authorities, with an increase of over FCFA130,000,000 compared to that of 2022.
The increase as explained at the budgetary session of Wednesday December 7th by mayor Ngwakongoh, has been influenced by the laudable number of projects highlighted and captured in the annual development plan of 2023 by stakeholders of the municipality during the budget orientation session that held on 22nd of November 2022.
The council for 2023 plan to execute the following projects with the adopted budget;
- Construction of classrooms
- Construction of City Tower and green space
-Pavement of roads
-Construction of youth empowerment center.
-Completion of the bride linking Nsem and Agyati
-Construction and rehabilitation of water supply projects
-Completion of farm to market bridges
-Assistance to IDPs
-construction of Ramps in five Health Centers
- Support vocational training for persons living with disabilities
-purchase of 4x4 Toyota double cabin hilux for the council
-Rehabilitation of Schools
-Purchase and installation of five cassava graters in 05 communities
As captured by MNews237 during deliberations the council and it's councilors for 2022 were able to hand the following projects to make life better to it's it's subjects and inhabitants;
- Construction of two classrooms at GS Swie
- Rehabilitation of GS Obang
-Construction of a farm to market bridge over Nikeh stream linking Ntangoh and Nibe
-Construction of the Njimbee gravity water supply
-Rural electrification of Nchum village in the Bafut Council
-Construction of 04 meat sales slaps at Mforya, Asong, Ndung and Mbakong
-Rehabilitation of municipal roads
- Road side clearing
-construction works on the bridge over the Njiko river on the Niko-Mankaha-Agyati road.
- Supporting equipment in favor of vulnerable people.
-Completion of the Akosia Integrated Health centre
-Rural electrification of Buwe Village, Ntielah, Mbebili
-Supply of 35 benches to GS Swie.
-Opening of the Obang market.
-Rural electrification of Njimbang-Mankaha
-Opening and grading of rural inter quarter roads within the Bafut municipality.
The supervisory authority after the brainstorming session expressed satisfaction with council always emerging amongst the first two council areas to execute their projects on time.
The mayor also seized the platform to celebrate their queen mother who was crowned on Tuesday December 6th by traditional authorities and wish the councilors a merry Christmas.
