NYC Elections: Mekom Samuel Taleh elected Northwest bereau president

The 26-year-old entrepreneur who hails from Santa won the election unopposed after the file of his competition Tumenta Peter was declared incomplete by the electoral team after scrutiny.

43 delegates made up the electoral college out of which 39 cast their lot on the young entrepreneur. 2 votes were disqualified with 1 empty ballot.

In his 5minutes campaign to the delegates drawn from all the seven divisions of the region, Samuel who also happens to be the youngest in the Bamenda city council board, explained that his vision is to empower the youths so they can gain meaningful employment.

He said his first plan of action will be to visit the 7 divisions, get the aspirations of the youth and design a plan of action base on the identified needs of the youths.

" I'm not coming into the Youth Council to make money, I am already a millionaire.My motivation is to ensure that youths gets what's rightfully theirs, void of embezzlement .
The national youth council is a volunteer structure and we are going to work within this premise to ensure that the volunteerism spirit in the younger generation is cultivated to achieve peace and serenity in the region".

Mekom Samuel Taleh who holds a DIPET II in information and communication technology from the Higher Technical Teachers Training college in Bambili takes over the command batton from Nchia Bertrand.

Melvin Songwe and Asanga Delphine were also elected as the two delegates to represent the region at the national level.

On hand to ensure that the elections unfold in strict respect of the laws governing the Youth Council was secretary general at the North West governor's office Bassiliken George's.

North West regional delegate of youth affairs and Civic education Odilia Fri Mbanwie cautioned the candidates after declarations of results to live up the expectations of youths in the region and to respect their campaign promises to assisting in bringing peace into the region, help curb unemployment and juvenile delinquency amongst youths.

Created in 2009 to be the speaker of the more than 11.000 youth organization in Cameroon, the Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC), is a national forum for consultation, expression, coordination, dialogue and action of youth's organization in Cameroon.
